Gary Koay

Trainer Bio

Gary’s passion for video creation began in his teenage years and has grown into a professional career spanning over 15 years. A graduate of Vancouver Film School, he sees video as the ultimate form of artistic expression—capable of being meticulously crafted or captured with raw authenticity.

He is particularly drawn to the power of video to connect with audiences, spark new ideas, and challenge perspectives. Gary’s current focus is on how evolving social media trends are reshaping the way businesses and industries communicate with future generations.

As a Professional:

Gary’s career has taken him through multiple roles on film sets, from hands-on production to leadership positions as Director and Creative Director. These experiences have given him a deep understanding of video production and the ability to manage diverse creative teams. Now, as an entrepreneur and founder of his own company, Jaidee & Ko, he specializes in helping businesses craft relatable and meaningful content that resonates with broader audiences for social media. His approach goes beyond video production to include strategic guidance on messaging and branding. He has collaborated with industries such as finance, agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, tech, F&B, and more, creating content that bridges the gap between businesses and their audiences.

As a Trainer/Mentor:

In his previous role as Creative Director at a video tech company, Gary trained over 45 businesses and 1,000 professionals across various industries and generations. He believes that learning video creation is the next step in communication, as essential today as reading and writing.

Gary is passionate about empowering individuals and organizations to leverage video as a storytelling tool, helping them communicate effectively in a world where video dominates our daily lives. His training focuses on equipping participants with practical skills to create impactful content independently.

Training Philosophy:

FAIL stands for First Attempt In Learning. Gary emphasizes that while understanding theory is useful, today’s technology makes it easier than ever to start creating videos without it. The democratization of filmmaking has introduced diverse styles tailored for different platforms and audiences.

As the industry evolves, mastering core skills to adapt and thrive creatively is more valuable than specializing in one area. Most creators today are one-person teams, and Gary’s training focuses on teaching participants how to balance multiple aspects of video production through practical, hands-on learning.
